What is Pangram?
Pangram detects AI-generated content. Its lineup includes Pangram 4, a text detection model, Pangram Image for images, and a Chrome extension that labels AI content on social platforms. The website positions it as an AI detector for content from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude in essays, articles, and documents.
According to TechCrunch, Pangram claims over 99% accuracy for its text model and a false positive rate of roughly 1 in 10,000 human-written documents. Customers include publishers, academic institutions, schools, recruiters, and content platforms such as Substack and Quora, alongside individual subscribers. A subscription costs $20 per month, and API access is available for developers and platforms.
Pangram was founded around 2024 by Max Spero and Bradley Emi, both Stanford graduates with AI and machine learning backgrounds, and is based in New York.
In July 2026 Pangram announced $9 million in funding led by Menlo Ventures, with Haystack, ScOp, Script Capital, and Cadenza participating. As with any detector, results are probabilistic and are best used as one input in a review process.
