Medly AI is a UK edtech company that builds an AI tutor for exam preparation. Its website describes it as an AI study partner for UK students, covering GCSE, A-Level and IB revision, university work and exam practice.
The tutor uses a proprietary combination of seven large language models alongside approaches drawn from neuroscience and teaching theory. It tracks students' progress and learning patterns to adapt feedback to each user. Students answer practice questions and get immediate feedback, including guidance on where extra marks could be gained. Handwriting recognition lets students work directly on the platform with a tablet or stylus, which is useful for subjects like mathematics and chemistry.
Since launching in February 2025, Medly says it has reached more than 400,000 UK users, who spend around an hour a day on the platform on average. It is running a trial with more than 1,000 students to assess its impact on attainment. Medly has also launched SAT preparation in the US and plans to add AP and ACT support.
Medly was founded by UCL medicine graduates Dr Paul Jung (CEO) and Dr Kavi Samra. In August 2026 it raised USD 8 million in seed funding led by Felix Capital, with Eka Ventures and Ada Ventures participating.
