Short answer: for an online store, Omnisend is the best fit on this list, mainly because it bundles email, SMS and web push with ecommerce automations and has a usable free plan. Creators should look at Kit, teams that need heavy automation at ActiveCampaign, budget buyers at Brevo, and data-heavy stores at Klaviyo. The rest of this guide explains why.
AI in email marketing now means more than a subject line generator. The better platforms write drafts, build forms, recommend products inside emails, pick send times per contact, and let you run the account from ChatGPT or Claude. The harder question is which one fits your business and your budget.
This guide compares six AI email marketing platforms (the tools behind most AI email marketing software searches): Omnisend, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Brevo, ActiveCampaign and Kit. We compared published features, vendor pricing pages and vendor documentation. We did not run side-by-side deliverability or conversion tests, so treat the verdicts as fit guidance, not lab results. Prices below come from each vendor's own pricing page as read on October 28, 2026. Most vendors price by list size, so we state the list size each figure applies to. 1. Omnisend: best AI email marketing tool for ecommerce stores
Omnisend is an email, SMS and web push platform built for online stores. It connects natively to Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce, and it ships pre-built automations for abandoned carts, welcome series and post-purchase flows. That is why it leads this list for store owners. It is a fit-based pick for ecommerce, not a claim that it is the best tool for every business.
What the AI does
- Forms AI: builds a signup form (design, copy and visuals) from a prompt.
- Product recommender: uses browsing and purchase behavior to insert products into each email automatically.
- Personalized sending time: sends at the right time for each contact. Omnisend's pricing page lists it on its paid plans.
- Dynamic content: shows or hides email blocks based on audience filters.
- Omnisend MCP: lets you check performance, create campaigns and manage segments from an AI tool such as ChatGPT or Claude. Omnisend's September 2026 release notes add form management through MCP.

Pricing
Omnisend's pricing page shows a Free plan with 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, a Standard plan that starts at 500 contacts with 6,000 emails a month, and a Pro plan with unlimited emails. List prices work out to $16 a month for Standard at 500 contacts and $59 a month for Pro, which includes up to 2,500 contacts. The page's pay-three-months-upfront option takes 30% off, which is why the screenshot below shows $11.20 and $41.30 a month. SMS is billed separately and starts at $0.007 per message. Omnisend also lists free migration and 24/7 support on every plan, including Free.

Limits
- It is built around stores. If you run a SaaS product, an agency or a content business, a general-purpose tool is a better match.
- Standard caps monthly emails at a multiple of your list size, so heavy senders should price Pro early.
- SMS costs extra and varies by country.
Choose Omnisend if you run a Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce store and want email, SMS and web push in one tool at a lower price than Klaviyo. Read our full Omnisend listing on ToolJunction for the editor summary.
Omnisend vs Klaviyo for ecommerce
Store owners most often weigh these two. Both are built for ecommerce and both integrate with Shopify, WooCommerce and BigCommerce. Omnisend leads on bundling email, SMS and web push with a free plan with no time limit, and Klaviyo leads on analytics depth and its Composer agent. Which is cheaper depends on your list size, so run both pricing calculators with your own numbers.
2. Klaviyo: best for data-heavy ecommerce brands
Klaviyo is the platform most stores compare Omnisend against. Pricing is based on active profiles. Klaviyo's pricing page lists a free plan with up to 250 active profiles and 500 emails a month. Paid plans scale with your profile count, so use the calculator on Klaviyo's page with your own list size.
On the AI side, Klaviyo offers Composer, which it describes as an always-on AI marketing agent grounded in your Klaviyo data. According to Klaviyo's help center, it can answer performance questions, audit flows, forms and templates, run a pre-send check on campaigns, and create drafts.
Choose Klaviyo if you have a larger store, a data-focused team and the budget for deeper segmentation and analytics. Skip it if price per profile is your main constraint.
3. Mailchimp: best for small businesses that want one all-rounder
Mailchimp covers campaigns, automations, landing pages and segmentation in one product. Its pricing page lists Essentials at $13, Standard at $20 and Premium at $350 a month in the 0 to 500 contact band, with a free plan for lists under 250 contacts. Paid plans scale by contact count, and every other band sits behind the on-page selector.
Mailchimp has Intuit AI for content and automation templates, an Analytics AI suite for conversational insights, and connections to ChatGPT and Claude so you can build campaigns from the assistant you already use.
Choose Mailchimp if you want a familiar tool with a wide feature set. Compare the Essentials, Standard and Premium feature lists against your automation needs before choosing. See our Mailchimp listing for more.
4. Brevo: best budget option for email, SMS and CRM
Brevo combines email, SMS, chat and automation with a CRM. The free plan sends up to 300 emails a day. The paid Starter plan is listed at $9 a month on monthly billing, and the cost scales with email volume.
Its AI assistant, Aura, helps with content, segmentation and contact management. The Send at best time feature, powered by Aura, picks the best send time for each contact in campaigns and automations.
Choose Brevo if you want low entry pricing and plan to send more email than your contact count suggests. See our Brevo listing.
5. ActiveCampaign: best for advanced automation and CRM
ActiveCampaign is the deepest of the six on automation logic. It has no free plan, only a 14-day trial. At 1,000 contacts, billed yearly, the pricing page lists Starter at $15 a month and Plus at $49 a month, with Pro at $79 and Enterprise at $145. Prices rise with contact count.
Its AI layer, Active Intelligence, includes prompt-based reporting, an AI campaign builder, AI content generation and predictive sending, which sends emails around each contact's habitual open times.
Choose ActiveCampaign if you need multi-step automation and CRM features in the same tool. Skip it if you want a free plan or the simplest setup. See our ActiveCampaign listing on ToolJunction.
6. Kit: best for creators and newsletter businesses
Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is built for creators. Its Free plan supports up to 10,000 subscribers with unlimited forms, landing pages and broadcasts, per Kit's help center. The Creator plan is $33 a month at 1,000 subscribers ($390 billed yearly) and adds unlimited visual automations, sequences, A/B subject line tests, SMS and Kit's MCP connection. Kit takes a restrained approach to AI and says its tools are meant to support your own voice. See our Kit (ConvertKit) review.
Choose Kit if you sell courses, products or sponsorships to an audience you own. It is less suited to stores that need product-based automation.
How to choose an AI email marketing tool
- Run an online store: start with Omnisend, then price Klaviyo if you need deeper analytics.
- Sell to an audience as a creator: Kit.
- Need a low price and more than email: Brevo.
- Need advanced automation or a CRM: ActiveCampaign.
- Want a familiar general tool: Mailchimp.
Before you pay, check four things: how pricing scales with your list, whether the AI features you want are on your plan, how well it integrates with your store or CRM, and how easy it is to export your data and leave.
